And the Oscar goes to...

Premetto che non mi sono mai troppo interessata al glamour, alle paillettes e ai lustrini, e ai grandi nomi della moda. Mai in vita mia, diciamo che proprio non sono nelle mie corde e fondamentalmente non mi interessano nemmeno le sfilate. Però i red carpet, trattandosi di Cinema, sotto sotto mi piace guardarli, en passant, e a volte catturano la mia attenzione e mi soffermo ad osservare meglio. E quest'anno c'è stato un bel vedere, alla notte degli Oscar! Tanto glamour classico che invece mi piace un sacco, perché mi ricorda la Hollywood che fu, quella dei fasti degli anni '30 e '40, soprattutto.
Jessica Chastain incarnava precisamente questo spirito, ed è esattamente ciò che mi aspetto da una attrice che sfila sul red carpet degli Oscar: il glamour classico di un abito fantastico, fasciante e coi lustrini, scollatura a cuore, un piccolo strascico, perfetto! Capelli di un rosso intenso e con onde retrò, alla Rita Hayworth per intenderci. Rossetto rosso e sorriso perfetto, ecco come voglio le mie dive! Perché sì, sono di un'altra categoria rispetto alle comune mortali, e almeno durante la notte degli Oscar pretendo che vadano in giro conciate bene, ben pettinate e ben truccate, queste donne che a differenza nostra hanno l'occasione di indossare cotanti vestiti! E poi diciamocelo, ci fanno un po' sognare... Ed è giusto poter staccare dalla realtà ogni tanto, e sognare un po'.

Short premise, I never really was into glamour, sequins and such things, neither into big names and fashion brands. Never ever, let's just say it's not my cup of tea and I am not that interested in catwalks either. But since they're related to Cinema, I like red carpets and sometimes something gets my attention. And this year it was great looking at the Academy Awards red carpet! Lots of classic glamour that I really like since I love classic movies and stars from the past, the Old Hollywood of past times, 30s and 40s expecially.
Jessica Chastain was an epitome of this style, and it's exactly what I expect from a great actress doing the catwalk on the Oscars red carpet: the classic glamour of a stunning dress, heart neckline, bodycon with a little train and sequins, way perfect! Perfectly red hair with soft waves reminiscent of Rita Hayworth. Red lipstick and perfect smile, that's how I want my Oscar ladies to be! Since yep, they don't belong to real world, and I pretend they dress up properly during the Academy Awards night, well dressed and well styled, those women that differ from us and who have a real excuse to wear dresses like these! And let's tell, they make us dream a bit.. It's nice to forget reality some times and to dream a little bit.

Jessica stavolta l'ha capito, ed è tornata ad essere splendida come sempre, dopo il passo falso ai Golden Globes! Non so chi l'abbia conciata in quel modo, ma era tutto sbagliato.. trucco e parrucco, il rossetto viola che mal si intonava alla sua carnagione chiara, i capelli con la riga in mezzo che la facevano apparire quasi pelata.. e un vestito troppo strutturato azzurrino/menta che non le donava di certo, con la scollatura a dir poco orrenda, al limite del volgare. Non so di chi sia, ma certo esistono opzioni migliori, per un red carpet. E lei sta sicuramente meglio con delle linee più morbide e retrò. Ho letto da qualche parte che ha dichiarato che molte ragazze sognano l'abito nuziale, ma lei ha sempre sognato il vestito da Oscar! E si è visto!!! Un vero peccato che alla fine non abbia preso la statuetta, facevo il tifo proprio per lei. Perché io l'amo, questa bella ragazzona roscia - e fondamentalmente vorrei capelli come i suoi :DD

Jessica did it right this time, after the faux pas at the Golden Globes! I don't know who styled such a beautiful woman like her in that way, but it was all wrong.. makeup and hairstyle expecially, but also the dress was not really flattering her. I've read somewhere that she stated that many girls dream of a wedding dress, but she's always dreamt to dress for the Oscar! And it showed! A real pity she didn't won the Oscar at the end, I was cheering up for her! Because I love her - and basically I'd love to have red hair like hers too! :D :D

...E ora parliamo un po' dei film, orsù.
Argo miglior film dell'anno. L'ho visto la scorsa settimana e l'ho effettivamente dato per vincente, nonostante tifassi per I Miserabili e ritenessi Zero Dark Thirty migliore. Non per la raffica di premi che ha già preso Argo durante l'anno, ma perché Argo è fondamentalmente un film in cui Hollywood salva il mondo, e l'Academy non poteva non tener conto di una autocelebrazione così palese. Argo mi è piaciuto, e ci sono anche momenti dove la suspence è tiratissima, e Ben Affleck è sicuramente diventato un bravo regista (come attore può ancora migliorare), e sembra aver imparato dal migliore in circolazione: Clint Eastwood, che a sua volta deve TUTTO a Sergio Leone. Però del buon Ben ho preferito The Town, un bel film tosto e solidissimo. In cui sembra anche un bravo attore. Argo non mi è dispiaciuto, però personalmente mi sono piaciuti di più Zero Dark Thirty (e non sono una fan del genere, ed è, anche quello, un film che ritengo un po' furbino... Ma è sicuramente una cronaca avvincente, e poi con la Chastain protagonista sono di parte!) e il meraviglioso Les Miserables, come non amarlo, 3 ore di grandeur letterario sullo schermo e musica e canzoni per parlare dei poveri miserabili francesi di Victor Hugo... Un musical in grande stile. Ero anche per Moonrise Kingdom, che ho adorato, ma non ho visto Vita di Pi e nemmeno Lincoln nè Amour quindi non posso dare giudizi, ma spero di recuperarli presto, a questo punto. E non ho ancora visto Anna Karenina, ma visto che da noi è appena uscito correrò al cinema nei prossimi giorni, lo aspetto con ansia da tempo e so già che me ne innamorerò - letteratura, ottimo regista, costumi e scenografie che già urlavo alla visione del trailer, e Keira che ci sta sempre bene...!

...And now some comments about the movies, shall we?
Argo won best movie. I watched it last week and I actually thought it was going to win, even tho I was a fan of The Miserables and I think Zero Dark Thirty is a better movie. It's not because Argo already won a lot of awards during this year, but because Argo is a movie about Hollywood, and basically where Hollywood saves the world! And the Academy giggles when there are movies like this. I liked Argo, and Ben Affleck has become a good director for sure (as an actor he still can improve, imho), since he seems to have learnt the job from the best around: Clint Eastwood. Who owes to the very best: Sergio Leone. But frankly I preferred Affleck's The Town, a great and solid movie. Don't get me wrong, I liked Argo, but I personally liked Zero Dark Thirty more, and The Miserables even more. How not to like The Miserables! 3 hours of epic grandeur and great literature on a screen and music and great songs to talk about the poor Miserables of Victor Hugo.. A great musical. And I was a fan to Moonrise Kingdom too, which I adored, but I haven't seen Life of Pi and Lincoln and Amour neither, so I can't really tell, I think I am going to watch it asap.  And I haven't seen Anna Karenina either, but since it just come out here in Italy, I am going to the theatre this week, I am all about watching it and I know I am going to fall in love - literature, great director, great costumes and sets, and Keira Knightley. Need to say more?
