Black is black is black

Perché il nero è sempre nero e va sempre bene. Prendete questo vestitino: ce l'ho da quasi 10 anni ed è sempre attuale. Molto pratico, di maglina e con le maniche lunghe, è perfetto in questo periodo dell'anno. La fantasia discreta, non proprio un pois ma nemmeno troppo astratta lo rende sempre attuale proprio perché non è mai alla moda! Un bel machissene e una bella pernacchia sull'essere alla moda! Bisogna mettere le cose che ci piacciono e che ci fanno sentire bene. Anche se sono abitini di quasi dieci anni fa (ma qualcuno se n'è accorto poi? :P ). Io poi mi sento molto più a mio agio con i vestitini, per questo ne cerco sempre di nuovi - e riutilizzo quelli vecchi.

Since black is alway black and it's always good. Take this dress as an example: I got it from almost ten years and it's still good to go. Practical, made of jersey and with long sleeves, it's perfect for this time of the year. The discreet  print (more subtle than it appears in photo) makes it current at anytime since it's never actually on fashion! But who really cares about fashion? We should wear what we really like and make us feel good. Even if they're old dresses from many years back (but did anyone really noticed it?)

Foxy Lady

Finalmente ho portato questa borsina con la volpe a fare un giro fuori, e influenzata dai colori dell'Autunno ho finito per indossare tutto in tinta con la volpe, anche una gonna arancio...

Tapestry anything - or Mary Poppins' carpet bag

O, vorrei tanto la borsa di Mary Poppins. Riempita ovviamente di vestiti e accessori fatti con questo tessuto ad arazzo! Che ricorda proprio un tappeto.. E in effetti Mary Poppins nel film a un certo punto dice: "Oh, questa borsa? E' fatta con un tappeto". Potete trovare la borsa originale all'asta QUI, ma vi avviso, l'offerta parte da 10000$...!
Ecco. Per dire, i tappeti tradizionali non li amo tanto, o perlomeno in casa mia non ce li vedrei, ma la tapezzeria sì e tantissimo, i damascati, poi, sono un sogno. Quindi perché non portare in giro con noi un po' di questo bellissimo tessuto tradizionale indossandolo?
Non ho capito bene se fosse o meno un trend degli anni scorsi che ora è un po' in declino, fattostà che in apparenza si trovano meno cose tapestry sui siti più di tendenza, ma essendo comunque un tessuto tradizionale e anche un po' folk - che quest'anno si rivede in giro - qualcosina si trova e ne ho raccolte un po', non solo tapestry ma anche jacquard, che alla fin fine è quasi la stessa cosa... E ho lasciato un po' indietro le stampe stile arazzo, prediligendo quelle intessute perché questo tessuto è bello proprio perché intessuto.. che senso ha avere la stampa arazzo? 
 Ed ecco infatti dove andrò una delle prossime domeniche (se mai un giorno dovessi alzarmi presto): al Museo della Tappezzeria che ho scoperto essere a Bologna! Qui il sito ufficiale.
Ma torniamo a Mary Poppins...

Or, I wish I had Mary Poppins' bag. Full of tapestry clothes and accessories, of course! And that's it, this jaquard fabric really resembles a carpet. And in the movie she actually tells it's made out of a carpet. You can find auctions for the original bag here, bidding starts from 10000$...!
That's it. I actually don't really love traditional rugs, at least I can't see how they would fit in my place, but I really love wallpapering and that's very true for damask and florals! So why can't we bring it around with us by wearing it? :P
I did not understand if it was trendier (does this word exist?) in the past couple of years, but actually you can find less tapestry garnments on the trendy shops this season, but being a traditional fabric and a little bit folk as well, and you can see folk again this season, you can still find some things and I collected it here. Not just tapestry but also some jacquard, which is almost the same thing... I onl left back the tapestry prints, keeping in mind that tapestry is great when woven and a tapestry print doesn't make any sense at all, to me.

Seconda puntata di gatti e foglie. Ho trovato talmente tante immagini straordinarie di gatti autunnali che ne manderò in onda anche una terza! Per fortuna l'autunno è lungo ed è appena cominciato...

Transitional Tower Town

Una bella e lunga passeggiata in città durante le giornate pedonali del weekend - i cosiddetti T-Days (altra T che sta per... beh, il percorso pedonale tra via Indipendenza, Via Ugo Bassi e via Rizzoli ha la forma di una T, che fantasia (sarcasmo). Una giornata splendida e calda, anche se i primi venti autunnali facevano già capolino in Settembre. 
E difatti si tratta di outfit settembrino - il che significa che sono ancora indietro con i post... Fine Settembre in verità, ma come è volato questo mese! Dal prossimo post di outfit arriva l'Autunno vero e le sue sovrapposizioni, promesso. Intanto avevo già cominciato qui, con magliettina sotto al vestito e camicia jeans sopra. Il tutto a costo quasi pari allo zero: questo è un vestitino della mia adolescenza (eh già, arriva proprio da quegli stessi anni 90 che sono tanto di moda adesso..), già visto qui in versione estiva, tornato attualissimo con le fantasie floreali più recenti, i cosiddetti dark florals che si vedono ovunque in questa stagione (non che mi dispiaccia.. anzi, sto facendo scorta di nuovi fiorellini!), mentre la camicia è thrifted, ovvero proveniente dai famosi mucchi al mercato, pagata solo 1€. Si può essere anche trendy e gggiovani spendendo niente, soprattutto quando i trend sono trend del passato che tornano in auge. :D

A nice and long walk in town during one of those pedestrian weekends called T-Days in my town - since the pedestrial path between the streets resembles a T.. what a great imagination (sarcasm). It was a really nice and warm day, even tho the first winds of Autumn were already showing off.
And as a matter of fact its a transitional outfit from September - which means I am still behind with outfit posts. But I promise Fall and its layering will be up and running from next outfit post. Aye! I already started seasonal layering here, with a tee underneath the dress and a denim shirt on top of it. This whole outfit costed me almost like zero, since this floral dress is quite old and coming from my teen days back then (yep, the infamous nineties.. which are back on trend), already seen here in a summery version, back on fashion with those super trendy dark florals we are seeing everywhere this season (not that I dislike it, oh no, with the floral craze I am stocking up new florals as well!), while the denim shirt was thrifted and bought for just 1€.
You can be on trend even if penniless, expecially when those trends are old trends back on fashion. :D

Cats and Pumpkins

Halloween has gone already, but we can still have a look to cats and pumpkins, a seasonal yummy vegetable. I really want to buy a pumpkin, do you have any advice on cooking recipes? :)

Halloween è già andato ma nulla ci impedisce di vedere cosa combinano i mici con le zucche, gustoso frutto di stagione. Ho proprio voglia di comprarne una - e cucinarla! Consigli di ricette? :)

My October in Shots

E' il primo mese che partecipo all'iniziativa di Eugenia di My New Old Life e sono proprio contenta di farlo! E' un modo davvero carino di raccontarsi. Ho deciso un po' all'ultimo quindi ho messo assieme il post un po' di corsa, e perdonatemi per la qualità (e i soggetti) di alcune foto, però in fondo è proprio questo lo scopo: raccontare le proprie giornate attraverso un'immagine. Ecco quindi il mio Ottobre, uno dei mesi dell'anno che amo di più :)

It's the first time I participate to Eugenia's initiative over at My New Old Life, and I am quite happy to be part of it! It's really a nice way to tell about our everyday life. This is the purpose indeed: telling about our month through a picture a day. So here's my October, which is one of my favourite months of the year as well.

Mocassini - Loafers

Sarà che i mocassini sono molto usati nelle divise scolastiche dei paesi anglosassoni, fanno subito pensare alle studentesse e donano immediatamente un look da brava ragazza, e quindi proprio perché legati alla scuola mi sembrano perfetti per questo periodo dell'anno in cui non è ancora troppo freddo e c'è il rientro a scuola, i primi compiti in classe, le prime interrogazioni (devo dire che per quanto mi piaccia studiare e ami leggere, scoprire e conoscere cose nuove, non mi manca per niente essere una studentessa e dover andare a scuola! Anzi, l'esame di maturità è anche per me un incubo ricorrente - come credo per la maggior parte della popolazione che l'ha superato!)
A proposito, una piccola curiosità: sapete perché in inglese vengono chiamate anche "penny loafers"? Perché si poteva infilare un penny nella piccola patta anteriore! Ed era una pratica comune degli studenti delle scuole preparatorie americane degli anni 50 - direi quasi un trend, come lo chiameremmo oggi.

It might be the fact that loafers are part of any student's uniform over the anglo-saxon world, but they immediately give a preppy look to any outfit, and since they areconnected to school I feel like the are perfect for this time of the year, still not too cold a back to school time, with classworks, tests.. (I have to say that as long as I love reading and learning new things I really do not miss going to school!).
A littlecurio: do you why the are also called penny loafers? Because preparatory students in the 50s used to put a penny on the front - it was something we'd call a trend today. Here's Wikipedia page about loafers - slip on shoes.
