Farewell to Summer in Little White Dress

We took these pics during the last heat wave of this endless summer. It has been 3 entire months of sunny days, sunny days, and more sunny days... Our land was suffering for never seeing rain, this summer. And we were suffering the million degrees hot temperatures that have lasted for too long. But suddenly, it's raining. Finally. Autumn is back the corner.

Finalmente. L'Autunno è alle porte.

I just had the time to wear this dress a couple of times before it started raining and temperatures dropped. It's one of the two only things I bought with the sales this year (the other one is a black/white checkered bikini that I am pulling away for next summer btw, since I didn't go at the beach at all, this year..)
As I didn't had extra money to spend this season, I restricted my priorities, and hunted what I really wanted, which was a pretty white or off white dress with lace or crochet details. This was a score! 100% cotton, crochet details all over, an open back that makes it even more interesting and fresh, very pretty and feminine, and (last but not least) it was marked down at 70% off. Just what I needed! For 13€ I quickly seized it from latest sales hunters in the shop and I made it mine. I don't care I couldn't buy anything else this year since I was able to find the perfect little white dress! :)
I won't regret not being able to wear it as simple as it is (dress+sandals) till next summer, since I was sick of all the heat.... And then, I can always layer it. But I am pretty sure Summer is not over yet, and that we are going to have some more beautiful sunny days (minus the heat), if September turns back at its normality (and if not, I can't wait for October).

Anyway, these pics were taken a couple of weeks ago, when the heat wave was still there at the end of August (I feel like it has been hundred of years ago already! yup!). It was already too dark when we stepped out of our door for a walk, so these pics turned out a little blurry (plus the batteries were over..) but it was no way getting out during daytime! I didn't realized how the days have already shortened that much till this very day. It was really, really an endless summer without a pause. I have to say, I am happy it's over, now. I am going to miss the simplicity of light dresses and sandals, but I can't wait to wear wool skirts and boots! :)

Dressing room - Little White Dress

I love little white dresses. This one has a nice drop waist that recalls the 20s, nice pleats details, and it's 100% cotton! I think I have a crush...

A little white dress is perfect for a summer day with almost no accessories, just your favourite sandals, some sunglasses, a big bag, a smart necklace... and a bun. How can a girl do without an updo in these hot days of summer? :)

With the right accessories and makeup, it can do well for a dinner out, or a semi-formal too.

And with a leather jacket, black tights and boots it can be transformed into a transitional fall look, a bit on the edgy side too.

Who told a little white dess is not as versatile as a little black dress?

Roman ruins "in Bianco"

I really like to dress up in white head to toe, I feel like a character from Agatha Christie's books, or almost like Mark Twain while he was traveling the world promoting his books in his white linen suit - with a straw hat on his head, of course.
Last year, during a visit with friends to the ruins of Carsulae, an antique roman town very close to my hometown, I had a total white, vintage looking outfit: shirt, tea lenght skirt, straw hat and my red Touring guide by hand! My fiancee told me I was looking like a 30s english teacher visiting the roman ruins with the scolarship! And I really liked that. Though I was feeling most like a 70s lady touring the roman ruins.

Ahhhhh, total white. I wish I could dress like this more often!
Talking about that, a few days back Cécile from L'Armadio del Delitto referred about an awesome rendezvous in Turin: Cena in Bianco (Dinner in White) a flash mob where you eat around the streets in total white outfits! You can find more details and the beautiful pics of the parisian event at Cécile's blog. There is a Facebook page about the Turin's event and a page about the parisian Diner en Blanc. You can subscribe yourself to the Cena in Bianco in Turin by writing an email to cenainbiancotorino@gmail.com. They will tell you about the date where the event will take place - it's a secret!

Ahh, bianco candido!

Well, as I just referred about it and I never published the pics (I was not yet blogging last year!) , I leave you with the pics from the visit to the roman ruins of Carsulae, in Umbria, during last Summer.

If you have never been there and you come to Italy, go visit Umbria! It's the region nearby to Tuscany and it's really peaceful - and beautiful!
