Tapestry anything - or Mary Poppins' carpet bag

O, vorrei tanto la borsa di Mary Poppins. Riempita ovviamente di vestiti e accessori fatti con questo tessuto ad arazzo! Che ricorda proprio un tappeto.. E in effetti Mary Poppins nel film a un certo punto dice: "Oh, questa borsa? E' fatta con un tappeto". Potete trovare la borsa originale all'asta QUI, ma vi avviso, l'offerta parte da 10000$...!
Ecco. Per dire, i tappeti tradizionali non li amo tanto, o perlomeno in casa mia non ce li vedrei, ma la tapezzeria sì e tantissimo, i damascati, poi, sono un sogno. Quindi perché non portare in giro con noi un po' di questo bellissimo tessuto tradizionale indossandolo?
Non ho capito bene se fosse o meno un trend degli anni scorsi che ora è un po' in declino, fattostà che in apparenza si trovano meno cose tapestry sui siti più di tendenza, ma essendo comunque un tessuto tradizionale e anche un po' folk - che quest'anno si rivede in giro - qualcosina si trova e ne ho raccolte un po', non solo tapestry ma anche jacquard, che alla fin fine è quasi la stessa cosa... E ho lasciato un po' indietro le stampe stile arazzo, prediligendo quelle intessute perché questo tessuto è bello proprio perché intessuto.. che senso ha avere la stampa arazzo? 
 Ed ecco infatti dove andrò una delle prossime domeniche (se mai un giorno dovessi alzarmi presto): al Museo della Tappezzeria che ho scoperto essere a Bologna! Qui il sito ufficiale.
Ma torniamo a Mary Poppins...

Or, I wish I had Mary Poppins' bag. Full of tapestry clothes and accessories, of course! And that's it, this jaquard fabric really resembles a carpet. And in the movie she actually tells it's made out of a carpet. You can find auctions for the original bag here, bidding starts from 10000$...!
That's it. I actually don't really love traditional rugs, at least I can't see how they would fit in my place, but I really love wallpapering and that's very true for damask and florals! So why can't we bring it around with us by wearing it? :P
I did not understand if it was trendier (does this word exist?) in the past couple of years, but actually you can find less tapestry garnments on the trendy shops this season, but being a traditional fabric and a little bit folk as well, and you can see folk again this season, you can still find some things and I collected it here. Not just tapestry but also some jacquard, which is almost the same thing... I onl left back the tapestry prints, keeping in mind that tapestry is great when woven and a tapestry print doesn't make any sense at all, to me.
And here's where I am going one of next sundays (if I will ever wake up early..): to the Tapestry Museum which is actually in Bologna! Here the official site.

Con queste belle giornate, ed essendo ormai nel cuore dell'Estate, mi viene da pensare ad una sola cosa: il mare. Peccato che nemmeno quest'anno lo vedrò... Però posso sempre consolarmi con lo stile marinaretto. :)
Amo follemente lo stile nautico, e anche in Inverno cerco di incorporare nel mio abbigliamento di tutti i giorni il blu e le righe e ho persino un bel cappottone navy con i bottoni d'ottone e tutto... Ma è d'Estate che lo stile marinaro esplode in un tripudio di righe in tutte le salse, di vele, barchette, ancore, timoni, stelline, cavallucci marini, granchietti...

With these sunny days, and being in the heart  of Summer, there's only one thing on my mind: the seaside. And yet I won't see the beach at anytime soon. But I still can soothe myself anch cheer up with nautical style.Who doesn't love nautical style?
I do infact love it to pieces, even in Winter I try to integrate nautical, navy and stripes in my everyday wear, I even own a navy peacoat with brass buttons and all the rest... But it's in Summer that nautical explodes in all its stripes, sailing prints, boats, anchors, seahorses, crabs, stars...

Zeppe e Sandali (comodi)

Premetto che in questa lista non troverete sandali col tacco a stiletto e nemmeno zeppe altissime, ma siccome con le scarpe mi piace riuscire a camminare, ho selezionato solo sandali e zeppe che oltre ad essere carini sono anche comodi (o che almeno così sembrano, perché con le scarpe non si può mai sapere finché non si provano e non ci si cammina almeno un po'), perché soprattutto d'estate con il caldo i piedi devono essere liberi dalle scarpe scomode, pena dolori e vesciche. E non è mica detto che bisogna per forza girare in infradito o birkenstock per essere comodi.. Le opzioni (anche molto carine) ci sono eccome! L'importante è sempre e comunque scegliere una scarpa con cui si riesce a camminare bene a lungo, che faccia respirare il piede, che non stringa in una morsa le dita o la caviglia, e che all'occorrenza ci permetta anche di correre - mai perso un treno per colpa delle scarpe strette? O preso una storta per una zeppa troppo alta? Io sì, ovviamente! Dalle zeppe troppo alte cado!! :D
Le mie scelte sono di gusto mooolto personale... Non amo tanto i sandali infradito perciò ce ne sono pochi (ma tranquille, ci sono anche loro!), mentre adoro i sandali in cuoio e le zeppette di tela... E tendo a stare più bassa possibile, quindi, tranne qualche eccezione, zeppe di pochi centimetri e sandali piatti o quasi. Evviva le scarpe comode!

You won't find any stiletto heeled sandals nor sky hi wedges in this list, since I actually love walking in my shoes, so I made a selection of nice sandals and wedges which are actually cute and comfy - or at least they look like comfy (you never know until you try them out and walk around in them), as our feet should be free from uncomfortable shoes, and this is expecially true in Summer. Simple thong or flip flops or Birkenstock are not the only option to stay comfy.. There actually is a lot out there! The best thing you can do for your feet is to choose a comfy shoe that makes your feet breathe, which straps are not killing your fingers toes and ankles, in which you can walk a lot and that are useful for running as well, if you ever need it - ever lost a train for killing shoes? Or almost break your ankle for too high wedges? I obviously did!! I miserably fall down from high wedges... :D
My choices are quite personal... As I am not a lover for thongs there aren't a lot of them (but there still are some), but I adore leather sandals and cord wedges... I also tend for low heels, so there are just a few exceptions to low wedges and flat sandals which are the most represented in this list. I love comfy shoes!

For the Birds - Uccellinimania

 For the birds, ovvero, (buono) per gli uccelli, ovvero, senza valore! E di solito è questa la fine che fanno i trend troppo... trendy. Ma sono già due o tre anni che si vedono le stampe a uccellini in giro (e anche degli oggettini e qualche bijoux) e devo dire che quando è fatta con criterio, e non sparata a mille, la stampa con uccellini e rondinelle mi piace molto. Ho fatto una selezione di abitini, gonne e camicette con questa stampa, tutte cose non troppo urlate, ma portabilissime e senza tempo, anche quando il trend "uccellinimania" sarà passato di moda. 

 For the birds, that's where the too trendy trends usually end. But it has been a couple of years already and the bird prints madness has not stopped yet. I have to say that I love it when the print is not screaming now but it's just a romantic print. I selected some nice dresses, skirts and blouses you can find around, pretty and wearable and timeless.

Visto che fra poco partono i saldi, il mese di Luglio sarà in parte dedicato ai (buoni) consigli per gli acquisti! Inauguro con le fantasie floreali, ma sono in arrivo anche altri post a tema. Lo so che le cose carine piacciono a tutte e con i saldi ancor di più... spero di non fare troppo il diavoletto tentatore, ma di consigliare il bello e il giusto, e soprattutto cose con prezzi decenti che ci si può permettere. Attenzione anche ai codici sconto che si trovano in giro su siti specializzati e attraverso le newsletter degli stessi shop online! ;)
La Primavera ha lasciato un po' a desiderare quest'anno, ma in compenso è stato tutto un fiorire di fantasie floreali. Quanti, quanti abitini floreali deliziosi si trovano in giro! Mi vien voglia di riempire l'armadio di vestiti a fiorellini (beh, almeno uno son riuscita a prenderlo.. e coi saldi chissà!)

Since it's sales time, I open July with some shopping advice! I am starting with floral prints, but there's more to come. I know we all love pretty things & sales... I hope I can give some advice with nice and useful things, expecially at low prices we can afford. Be careful with discount codes you can find around as well on specialized sites and newsletters! ;)
Spring has never sprung this year, but we were left with lots of florals around to redeem the dreadful weather. SO, so many lovely floral dresses around! I am tempted on fullfilling my closet with florals (but I was able to buy at least one at tis time.. and with sales, who knows!)

Una passione mai sopita, quella per le ballerine. Anche se le porto un po' meno del solito! Colpa degli stivaletti, comodissimi col tempo ancora autunnale incerto.. Ma fra poco, se il bel tempo vero si deciderà ad arrivare (e a fermarsi), li toglierò definitivamente, e allora sarà nuovamente tempo di ballerine. O forse già di sandali, visto che siamo praticamente in giugno! Ma no dai, c'è ancora un po' di spazio per portare le ballerine. Uff che primavera difficile!
Quelle nell'immagine sopra sono tutte di Pretty Ballerinas su Carouzou, uno shop online greco che ho scoperto tramite Polyvore. Non conoscevo nessun negozio greco fino ad ora, e hanno prodotti davvero carini. Il marchio Pretty Ballerinas è comunque anche su Zalando (esiste qualcosa che non è anche su quel sito? :P )

I always loved balle flats, even tho I am wearing it less and less, at least comparing with the past. Of course the fault is this silly autumn spring weather and the fact I'm still wearing my boots... But I hope (we all hope) the weather is going to be better from now on and the ballet flats era starts.. or the sandals one.. Since it's June, already! (oh my, are those months flying or what?) Hopefully there's still quite some time to wear ballet flats. This spring was a total bummer!

Se dovessi andare un po' sull'originale sceglierei queste a righine gialle, le trovo deliziose, e probabilmente più semplici da abbinare di quanto possa sembrare. Molto carine anche quelle a pois, e le classiche bicolore mantellassè tipo chanel, e quelle in cuoio intrecciato e... Ma proseguiamo la carrellata, se iniziamo così poi non la finiamo più :D

If I had to choose just one of those colorful flats, I'd choose these yellow striped with just the right amount of quirky. But I also love the polka dots ones of course, and the classic two tones, and their brown leather ones, and.. Well, let's go on, or we never make it to the end! :D

Cats on our Clothes (literally)

Animal prints are huge and everywhere in these days, and as long as I am not a trend follower and I actually don't need to be covered in tiger or zebra prints, neither do I care for elephants or giraffes or lobsters on my clothes, as a cat person I really need a cat print something in my closet!
I don't ever own a cat print dress!! Right now I only have a pair of black cat earrings, some red socks with a cat shilouette I got from way back I don't even remember when/where! And a shirt with a drawing of two cats an artist painted for me way back then (I think it was for my 18th birthday!). So I thought it was not another revival at this time, but I was wrong, it seems it is another 90s comeback! But we like it, non? :)
Dresses, jumpers, t-shirt and blouses, and even many accessories involved.
The cat obsession reached out our closets and got over our clothes - as the cats themselves, by the way. =^.^=

Le stampe con gli animali sono esplose ovunque di questi tempi, e anche se non sono esattamente una che segue le tendenze e non sono molto interessata a ricoprirmi di stampe tigrate o leopardate o zebrate dalla testa ai piedi, nè di avere elefanti o giraffe o granchietti sui miei vestiti... Come gattara ho invece urgente bisogno che si materializzi qualcosa con i gatti nel mio armadio!
Non ho nemmeno un vestitino con i gatti!! Al momento ho solo un paio di orecchini con gatti neri, dei calzini rossi presi tantiiiiiiiiissimi anni fa non ricordo nemmeno dove e quando! Poi ho una maglietta del libro La gabbianella e il gatto con cui dormo, e una maglietta con dei gatti dipinti che mi fece un pittore altrettanti anni fa (credo fosse per il mio compleanno dei 18 anni!). Ecco, mi pareva che non fosse un altro revival, ma invece lo è anche questo degli animaletti ovunque! Ma ci piace, no? :)
Vestiti, maglioni, magliette e camicie, e persino molti accessori sono coinvolti nella faccenda.
L'ossessione per i gatti si è infilata nei nostri armadi ed ha raggiunto i nostri vestiti - come i gatti stessi, d'altra parte. =^.^=

I Want to Ride My Bicycle (wish list)

Finally warm weather is (almost) here. And (between stormy weather and clouds) we got some sunny days! Strange weather, but it's enough to keep up the right mood to ride a bike. Hopefully in a few days..
I really love riding a bike. But it has been years since last time I ride a bike! Let's just say the last time I had a bike it didn't went any good as it got stolen.. As I live in Bologna, which is an university town, lots of students, lots of people, it is quite normal to see your bike vanishing (but that time it was parked inside the building I was living in.. wtf?). And being years since last time I feel a bit.. rusty, but I'd like to try nevertheless. Because I was really amused to go around in my beautiful town riding a bike, even tho it's quite youtful student and I am a bit overaged - but why not? :P
Since (maybe) Spring is here (are we 100% sure?) and with spring approaching there's nothing better than riding a bike, non? Or are you like ame and too lazy and idle even for a walk? Luckily we can apply for a bike printed dress, or a shirt with a bike drawing or a flowy and twirling skirt! Or maybe a cute bicycle pendant. :)
While I am here tryiong to decide about buying a new real bike or not, what about getting inspired by some pretty bicycle things like these? ^_^

Finalmente il bel tempo è qui (più o meno.. tra un temporale e una nuvola). Ed è il tempo adatto per andare in bicicletta. Non a caso anche il Giro d'Italia si svolge in questo periodo, e fra poco ci sarà anche il Tour de France (anche se non sono propriamente appassionata di ciclismo, però è l'unico sport seguito dal papà assieme al canottaggio, entrambi praticati in gioventù!)
Ah quanto amo andare in bici. Però c'è un però: sono anni ormai che non vado in bici! Diciamo che l'ultima volta che ne ho avuta una non è finita benissimo perché me l'hanno rubata.. Vivendo a Bologna è una cosa normalissima, che ti rubino la bici appena giri l'angolo - ma addirittura dentro all'androne del palazzo..? wtf?. E forse (ma forse eh) negli anni sono un pochettino arrugginita, ma quest'anno vorrei ad ogni modo riprovare... Perché è una cosa che mi piaceva tanto, girare per Bologna in bicicletta.. anche se in verità fa molto studentessa e sono -ehm- un po' fuori età, ma perché no!? :P
In fondo la Primavera è qui (siamo sicuri sicuri? sì?) e non c'è niente di meglio che girare in bicicletta, no..? O come me, siete troppo pigre per un giro? Per fortuna si può ricorrere a un vestitino con le biciclette stampate sopra, una maglietta con disegnata una bici o una gonnellina svolazzante! O un bel ciondolo con una mini bici :)
Mentre rimugino e decido se comprare o meno una bici vera e tornare in pista, mi rifaccio gli occhi con queste cosine sfiziosissime! ^_^

Wish List - Little Blue (printed) Dress

Ahhhh, little blue dresses are the best... Even tho I own several blue dresses, mostly plain navy and in polka dots, I am now looking for one expecially with sleeves, short or long, that has a tiny little print on it, or some flower print... Or any blue dress out there actually, printed or plain, why can't I have all of them?! :D
So here are a few.. well not really a few... I told ya, I cannot resist a pretty blue dress, I love them all, and I had hard time picking some and cutting away others, so I picked them all! ;D
Light blue, navy, printed, striped, with flowers, polka dots, long sleeves, short sleeves, sleeveless... How should I actually choose just one?!

Anche se ne ho diversi, soprattutto in tinta unita e a pois, ne sto cercando uno possibilmente con le maniche, corte o lunghe, e che abbia una stampa di qualche tipo o a fiori... O anche qualsiasi vestito blu che c'è là fuori, perchè non posso farli diventare tutti miei?! :D
Eccone un po'... Ma giusto un po'... Ve l'ho detto, coi vestitini blu è difficile resistere, mi piacciono praticamente tutti, volevo fare una selezione ma non ci sono riuscita, così li ho tenuti tutti! :D

The cut, lenght and front buttons details makes it to the perfect Little Blue Printed Dress! My size has already sold out though... Now that my blog is all setted up and running (aye!), I would like to try those Polyvore features for blogs. I think some are really nice and useful :)
